Our Favorite Looks from the 30’s!

After a decade of short hair and blunt bobs, the styles in the thirties allowed women to express their femininity.  The decade of Ginger Rogers, Marlene Dietrich and Mae West were full of finger waves, sausage curls and pin curls.  While hair styles in the 20’s were dramatic, the 30’s were soft, romantic, and a bit mysterious.

Take a look at some of our favorites vintage cuts from this era.  Tight curls, big eyes, dramatic lips.  We love the trend and the new modern twist on styles from the thirties.  Add bold jewelry, lace and even a faux fur vest or jacket, and you’re stepping back in time with an historical vibe that will certainly turn heads.

Texture, Sleek, Edgy! Love these looks? Here’s how to get this summer’s hottest trends with ARROJO.

FullSizeRender 2Sleek and Sultry:

Start with ARROJO Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.  To have the sleek and sultry look, you first need beautiful, healthy hair.

Next, mist ARROJO Protective Thickening Lotion into damp hair.  By applying at the roots, you’ll add volume to your crown.

Finally, finish with Healing Oil.  This ARROJO product adds gloss, shine and UV protection! And like your skin, your hair needs to be shielded from the sun as well.

Straight and Edgy:

Do you have color-treated hair? If so, use Color Save shampoo and conditioner to preserve the tone.  This shampoo will also create shine.

Next, add Cream Whip to damp hair.  It’s important to comb it through evenly.  Then, blow dry straight.

Last step is to spray ReFINISH dry shampoo in short bursts to the crown.  It will give you that mussy, lived-in texture.

Texture and Separation:

Start with ARROJO Gentle Shampoo and Conditioner.  Has the sun and surf left your hair dull and damaged? These mainstay products will repair and nourish long, dry stands.

Next, try Texture Paste.  Just a dime size amount will add shape  and create texture and separation.

Finally, use ReFinish, which will remove excel oils. We love it because it will add volume without adding weight.

The look is new, but if you spend any time on Pinterest, you’re starting to see it.  Pearlescent. This trend is inspired by… pearls of course. And just as a pearl is unique in color, so is pearlescent hair.  Check out the range from platinum to silvery to pearly.   No matter what your shade of blonde is today, you can achieve this look.  But you’ll need to be patient.  Your colorist will have to strip any warm tones out of your hair. If you’d like to give this a try, bring pictures of your color goal and plan to spend some time at the salon.  This trend is not a quick fix.  It’ll take a few visits before you walk away feeling like you’ve discovered the perfect pearl!

The Shag

It’s back! The Shag: the haircut you have to try at least once in your life! By all accounts, the Shag is young, modern and hip. It’s easy to maintain and with little effort you can style to perfection, which is why we love it here at Fresh!

These are our favorites for long and short hair!

Long Shag:

Determined to keep your long locks and still have an edge? The trendy long shag is stylish and fun. By removing a little bulk and volume, you can obtain a great look that is sure to turn heads. We think feathering the top and sides and going for a messy, tousled look is super cool!

Short Shag:

2017 is the year of the shag. And you don’t need long hair to be a part of the trend.   Short shags require texture, and more and more clients want to give this trend a try as summer approaches. One key is making sure your hair is shiny and clean. Try ARROJO’s Shine Luxe Oil that fights frizz and adds control and luster. This product will make your shag sparkle!

Flat Iron Faux Paus

Want perfectly straight hair this summer? The look is clean and sexy. Simple but sophisticated. Here are a few tips that will give you the look you love without damaging your hair.

First, use heat spray protection. This one simple step will help ensure that your hair isn’t damaged through blow drying and heat-tool styling. Think of it as a shield between your locks and this heat.

For best results we recommend ARROJO’s Protective Thickening Lotion. This Arrojo product will thicken your hair shaft, while protecting it from heating tools like your blow dryer and heating tool. Plus, it guards against breakage and adds shine!

How hot is too hot? Actually, you want your heat-styling tool to be hot because you want to go through through your hair at one pass. For thick hair, this might mean high heat, and for thin hair, it might mean medium heat. The key: Don’t keep going over hair time and time again.

Don’t want a limp look at your roots? Then pull your hair up when styling and heating, instead of pulling the heating tool down. By pulling up, you’ll give your hair lift at the roots.
