Each year Pantone declares the “Color of the Year.” But in 2016, Pantone changed tradition. For the first time, it declared two colors. Rose Quartz and Serenity will both make an impact in fashion and home décor that we’re already seeing this Spring.
The colors, which are an expression of the mood of the country, can best be described as serene and compassionate. They offer “reassurance,” say fashion experts.
A far cry from the sugary hues of last year, top designers now are focusing on these softer, milky hues, which work well with lightweight fabrics and also fit into the world we live in.
“With our culture still surrounded by so much uncertainty, we are continuing to yearn for those softer shades that offer a sense of calm and relaxation,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
